When the cats come out to play,
We hold a purr-fect holiday,
With cat T-shirts and catnip gear
To honor felines we hold dear:
Tortoiseshells and Balinese,
American bobtails and Burmese,
While no one ventures to sing scat,
Or make a catty comment that
Might hurt some Felis catus pride,
With canine preference implied.
Where they come from isn’t clear.
From street to alley, they appear,
Touring in their cat revues,
Then disappear into their mews.
