Julia Goss was teased at university because of coming from Scunthorpe, a steel town which many otherwise rational people still believe lies on the east coast. She now lives in the beautiful Forest of Dean, a forgotten slice of Gloucestershire, uninhabited by any member of the royal family, where she taught for many years in primary schools but is now a gardener.
